Purpose and legal basis of the processing

On the application site of the Max Planck Schools, all fields marked with * are mandatory. The gathered personal information at the site will be used to efficiently support the application and recruitment process. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6, para. 1, letter b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and § 26, paragraph 1 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
All fields which are not marked are optional. You can provide this information on a voluntary basis. The legal basis is your consent based on Article 6, paragraph 1, letter a of the GDPR. Consent is also the basis of the use of your data for statistical purposes by the Max Planck School Matter to Life and those academic institutions, who are involved in the selection and evaluation process.
You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Please, send an email to mattertolife@maxplanckschools.de.

Data recipients and categories of data recipients

Processing of your personal details is carried out by way of order processing on the GWDG GmbH. The Max-Planck-Gesellschaft as the responsible body only has access to your data insofar as this is necessary for the application and recruitment process in line with the internal allocation of responsibilities. Your data will be reviewed by the Max Planck Society and by the Max Planck School Matter to Life and those academic institutions, who are involved in the selection and evaluation process, as well as the Gender Equality Officer and the Works Council.

Duration of storage

Your data will be stored for a period of 5 years.

Rights of the data subject

In principle, you have the right to information in relation to the data concerning you, the right to have the data corrected should it be incorrect and the right to request deletion of the data if it is being stored unlawfully, as well as the right to have the processing restricted and the right of data portability. You can withdraw consent which you have issued at any time. You also have the right to submit an objection to the supervisory authority.
