The Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaften e.V. (MPG) takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. Below, we provide you with information concerning the main aspects of data processing regarding our application and recruitment procedures.

3. Purpose and legal basis of data processing

The personal data you enter in our application system is saved and processed solely for the application and recruitment processes of Max Planck Research Group Leaders.

Fields marked with a * (red asterisk) are mandatory fields that are required for the application process. If you do not provide these details, we cannot process your application. The legal basis for data processing is Article 6, para. 1, lit b GDPR (contractual basis) and § 26 Federal Data Protection Act 2018 (data processing as the basis for establishing an employment contract).

Fields not marked with a * are fields which you can complete voluntarily. If you fill in voluntary fields and give us your consent (see “Declaration of consent” above), we process this data exclusively for the purpose of the application and job filling procedure. The legal basis for processing in these instances is Article 6, para. 1, lit. a GDPR (consent of the data subject).

4. Data recipients and categories of data recipients

Processing of your personal details is carried out by way of order processing on Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen (GWDG) systems. The responsible program manager and the scientific advisors responsible for the selection procedure in the General Administration of the MPG have access to the data. After the end of the call for proposals, the members of the selection commissions and the Equal Opportunities Officers will also have access to the data. The selection commissions may also include external experts. In some cases, it may be necessary to send your documents to members of the selection commission who are located in the USA. This transmission is based on the legal basis of Art. 49 para. 1 lit. b GDPR. Data of successful applicants will be passed on to staff in the Personnel Department of the General Administration after completion of the selection procedure. We do not share your data with any other third parties.

5. Duration of storage

Your data will be stored until the end of the recruitment process. We only save your data for longer if you have given us your consent to do so.

6. Your rights

You are fundamentally entitled to the rights of access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16 GDPR), erasure (Article 17, para. 1 GDPR), restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR), data portability (Article 20 GDPR) and withdrawal of consent (Article 7, para. 3 GDPR).
